Arlen Specter – a crucial Democratic pickup last year towards a 60-vote, national-halth-care-forcing 60-vote Senate majority when he switched parties – goes down in a primary election that is yet another referendum on the public’s distaste for Democratic Washington. Just desserts. Mr. Specter ends his calculating career without a friend.
